Every Valentine’s Day, One25 is filled with yellow roses. The flowers are a symbol of friendship and sisterhood – a reminder for the women we support that they are valued.

Many of the women face discrimination and stigma on a daily basis. Most are survivors of violence: last year 93% of the women we worked with had experienced domestic or sexual violence during their lives.

The tradition of giving out roses dates back to 1996, when volunteers offered a rose to every woman who stepped onto our outreach van on Christmas Eve. Since those earliest days, One25 has offered practical, non-judgemental support to women who are street sex working in Bristol.

Today, our services include a healthcare hub, a safe space to get help on the streets, and specialist support to tackle challenges from homelessness to addiction.

We recently visited Kristen in hospital. She told us:

"I really appreciate you coming to visit me, because I don’t have anyone else who will."

This Valentine’s Day, you can make sure that women in Bristol have the support they need during times of crisis.

Stand in solidarity with women like Kristen and set up a regular donation today:

  • Over a year, a gift of £10 per month could train 2 outreach volunteers to take help and hope to women on the streets.
  • A gift of £25 per month could help a woman flee an abusive partner, providing urgent practical support to get to a place of safety.

"[It's a] place filled with love. [For a] few hours I am not a ‘junkie’, not sad, not worthless."

- Roxy
