Marking International Women’s Day 2024

The theme of International Women’s Day this year is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ – a topic that’s close to our hearts and central to our mission.

The women we meet are some of the most marginalised in Bristol. They face barriers to accessing support services that could help them and often experience judgement about street sex working.

We want to live in a society where marginalised women are not just included – able to access existing systems like healthcare and the law, for example – but prioritised, where they are valued and supported to access the opportunities that are available to others.

Systems need to be more flexible and learn from their unique perspectives as survivors of trauma.

This is equity. This is justice. This is what One25 exists for.

"Not having anywhere to go,
One25 was the only bit of normality and safety."

- Anne

Can you stand with women like Anne this International Women’s Day and help us challenge the injustices they face?

Donate now and help women connect with healthcare professionals and support services that are sensitive to the traumatic experiences they’ve faced.

Your gift will enable our specialist team to keep challenging the systems that exclude women: advocating for women’s needs and supporting other agencies to work more inclusively with survivors of violence and trauma.

"I really appreciate you coming to visit me, because I don’t really have anyone else who will."

- Kristen

"There are so many barriers to good healthcare for [the women].
For me, One25 is about trying to combat health inequality
and provide them with good healthcare, because they deserve it:
just like anybody else."

- Dr Liz, health hub GP
