Healthcare provision for women who might otherwise go without

One25’s health hub, in partnership with BrisDoc, provides vital access to healthcare for women.

The health hub opened its doors on 5 June at our centre in St Paul’s.

We know that many women face barriers to accessing healthcare, such as rigid appointment systems and stigma about street sex-working. They may not have access to regular healthcare. They may feel unsafe or unsupported in traditional healthcare settings due to trauma they have experienced.

Through the Health Hub, women can get the flexible, sensitive support they need.

Three afternoons a week, they can see a specialist nurse, sexual health nurse, and GP. Women can also access essentials such as sanitary products, condoms, alarms, takeaway food bags, and clothing.

Improving health outcomes for women

The health hub also supports women’s wellbeing, offering a safe and welcoming space to rest. Our Care Coordinator welcomes women with a warm hello and a hot drink. From here, we can assess each woman’s needs – perhaps seeing a caseworker or being supported to meet one of the health professionals.

"It's the best healthcare I've ever had, from people who not only care, but don't condemn"
