The incredible One25 community has raised £20,000 for health hub – in just two weeks!

Between 14-28 May, One25 took part in the Big Give’s Kind²Mind campaign, where donations made through the Big Give website could be doubled in value.

Thanks to your support, we were able to raise £20,000 – which could cover the costs of running health hub for nearly two months!

‘Always here’

A smile and a cuppa can brighten a difficult day. A kind doctor can reduce nerves about a test. Encouraging words remind us that someone believes in us.

For women street sex-working in Bristol, these experiences are especially meaningful – because they are so rare.

The women we meet have endured traumatic experiences – often during childhood. Violence, poverty and homelessness all take a toll on their mental and physical health. It can be hard to just get through the day.

The One25 health hub is a place of respite and support. Three afternoons a week, women can see health professionals, pick up essentials like food and clothing, and take time to rest and be creative.

It’s a safe space to face traumatic experiences and contemplate change: to take the first step towards healing.

Kayleigh told us:

"One25 gave me a purpose again […] When I have felt I have nobody, someone is always here."

How does the match funding work?

The Big Give Kind²Mind campaign is open to charities working to improve mental health.

One25 has access to a ‘match pot’ of funding worth £10,000. When you donate via The Big Give website, your donation will be matched by funds in the pot (for as long as those funds last), doubling its value. For example: a gift of £25 will become £50.

The campaign opens in Mental Health Awareness Week and runs for two weeks: from 12noon on Tuesday 14 May until 12noon on Tuesday 28 May 2024.

How do I donate?

Donations can be made via the Big Give website using a credit card, debit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay.

If you’d like to donate £500 or more, the Big Give also offers the opportunity to donate by BACS transfer. You will need to set up a Big Give donor account in order to do this; there is more information about the BACS donation process here.

Please note that BACS transfers can take up to 5 days: the Big Give advises that you transfer funds into your Big Give donor account in advance of the Kind2Mind campaign to make sure you can take advantage of the match opportunity.

You can continue to donate to One25 by cheque or other offline methods but unfortunately these donations won’t be matched and doubled.

What is the ‘tip’ feature on the Big Give donation page? Do I have to add a tip?

When making a donation via the Big Give website, you have the opportunity to give an optional tip to The Big Give.  The tip will go towards the costs of running the Big Give, such as providing the website service, and will be paid to The Big Give, not One25.  Leaving a tip is voluntary and you can opt not to.

To remove the tip, choose the ‘Other’ option and type £0.

If you have other questions or you’re having difficulty making your donation please get in touch! Call 0117 909 8832 and ask for Rachel Clarke or e-mail communications@one25.org.uk and one of our team will get back to you.
