Not only that: it’s electric! We are extremely grateful for a grant from the Bristol City Council Community Resilience Fund to make this possible.
The new electric van has been designed in consultation with volunteers, staff and, most importantly, the people it is here for: the women we support.
Accessibility and inclusion have been at the forefront for the design, including improvements for neurodiverse needs and physical assistance.
The new van will make the night outreach service more viable in the long-term as it means we can reduce costs by switching from petrol and considerably lowering our carbon emissions.
It also means we can offer a more reliable service as we will no longer incur delays to meeting women by having to drive a longer route to stay outside Bristol’s Clean Air Zone. Sometimes this can sadly mean missing a woman completely.
The charging port has been installed and we will keep you posted about when we’ll be welcoming the van into its new home…
